HubLab is a K-12 outreach program that approaches group music-making through improvisation, story-telling, conduction, and group composition. During a HubLab residency, members of Hub and students use a narrative-driven approach to composition, utilizing stories or themes to guide the creative process. Students with any level of musical background can participate, underscoring the guiding principle of HubLab that anyone can compose and make music. Working in groups, students also learn valuable team-building skills as they construct original pieces together.
The launch of HubLab was sponsored by the Celebrity Series of Boston Neighborhood Arts Program in the 2020/21 season.
