Daniel Wohl’s UFO-inspired piece Mirage asks the question “Are UFOs just products of our imagination, projections of our hopes, or something truly alien?” Additional works by Nico Muhly, Dai Wei, and Angélica Negrón.
Hub New Music crafts a program responding to the music of Renaissance composer Vincente Lusitano. Works by Donnacha Dennehy, Francisco Del Pino, Dai Wei, Andrew Conklin, Christian Quiñones, and Lusitano.
Elijah Daniel Smith’s piece Systems of Similitude inspires a program of pieces reflecting on the American experience. Additional works by Angélica Negrón, Julius Eastman, and Daniel Thomas Davis.

Hub New Music with Kojiro Umezaki (shakuhachi) from the Soka Performing Arts Center (Aliso Viejo, CA)
A performance exploring themes of queerness and the search for “home.“ Program features original choreography by Aaron Loux & Brian Lawson, with music by Daniel Thomas Davis, Julius Eastman, and Angélica Negrón.
Shakuhachi player Kojiro Umezaki joins Hub New Music in a performance of five pieces written by composers of the Asia/America New Music Institute (AANMI). Works by Takuma Itoh, Angel Lam, Chad Cannon, SunYoung Park, and Umezaki.
Gala Flagello’s The Bird-While is the first concerto written for Hub New Music. Scored for Hub + Symphonic Winds, The Bird-While is inspired by the environmentalist poetry of Keith Taylor.
