Interconnectedness
About
“Do you guys ever think about dying?”
Artists have waxed poetic on the subject of death for all of recorded history, creating works that evoke feelings of terror, divinity, uncertainty, and ultimately acceptance. Rahilia Hasanova’s piece Interconnectedness, the composer’s final work in which she grapples with her own mortality, was gifted to the ensemble and inspired this program. Collectively the selected works ruminate on our place in the world, death as a return to the earth and sky, and the notion that in our finite time we always have the ability to give and receive. Program includes works by Rahilia Hasanova, Donnacha Dennehy, Tyshawn Sorey, Vicente Lucitano, and Dai Wei.
